Mudskipper is a nine meter long thames workboat refitted with a new wheelhouse, sponsons and two hydraulic jacks or ‘legs’ to enable it to walk/drag itself up a beach similar to the motion of the Mudskipper fish.

All of the major components were built in house in Cappers workshop with assistance in the draughting and fabrication from myself.

Visual communication in the form of renderings and technical drawings were also provided from the start of the project to help gather interest and demonstrate the projects viability.

The engineering challenge of mudskipper is a tool for demonstrating humans ability and inability to overcome natures obstacles through engineering, more information on the project and the studio practice can be found at www.jamescappersculpture.com
